The Butterfly Effect

Inside the chrysalis that teems with life,

The caterpillar sighs his last goodbye;

He knows not what he will become or when;

He knows not if there is a life beyond

This one that he so solemnly departs;

He knows not of the magic he performs

When he emerges from that dark cocoon

To stretch his wings and move the arcane air

Around his newly-sculpted self at last.

But what a miracle it is that soon,

That small disruption navigates the skies

To find a grieving stranger weeks away,

And offer her a gentle gust of wind

That, inescapably, feels familiar.

- Holden Long

In 1960, American meteorologist Edward Lorenz coined the term “butterfly effect” when he discovered that even something as seemingly insignificant as the flapping of a butterfly’s wings could, after enough time, have massive consequences for weather systems—creating powerful storms or perfectly clear skies.

When we set out in 2021 to create a recruiting experience tailored to hospice and home health organizations, we hoped that by partnering our clients with high quality candidates, we could play a small part in connecting patients and their families with the care that they need.

Today, we are fortunate to serve over 70 hospice and home health locations, helping them recruit over 100 hospice leaders and business development professionals as well as over 800 full- time RNs who serve over 10,000 patients daily.

Through our active and attentive approach to conducting searches, we aim to find the talented individuals that will empower our clients to provide the highest quality care possible for the patients they serve.

In this way, we like to think that the work we do is sort of like the flapping of a butterfly’s wings: small, humble, but nonetheless essential in aiding in the process of patients and their families receiving the care they need when they need it most; and we’re just getting started.

I can’t speak highly enough about Jay Long and his team at InHouse Recruiting. Jay initially reached out to me on LinkedIn, and I was immediately struck by his genuine and approachable demeanor. After several engaging conversations, we quickly developed a great rapport.

Since then, I’ve relied on Jay’s services to help find multiple highly qualified candidates for our organization. The caliber of talent they’ve connected us with has been exceptional. Their ability to understand our company culture and specific needs has made the recruitment process seamless and effective.

What truly sets Jay and his team apart is how they function as a genuine extension of our company. They take the time to deeply understand our requirements, values, and goals, ensuring that every candidate they present is not just qualified on paper, but also a great fit for our team.

I’ve been so impressed with their work that I’ve even recommended InHouse Recruiting to my peers (though I’m almost reluctant to admit it, given the fierce competition for top talent!). Their professionalism, dedication, and results speak for themselves.

If you’re looking for a recruitment partner who goes above and beyond, I wholeheartedly recommend Jay Long and InHouse Recruiting. They’ve consistently exceeded my expectations and have become an invaluable asset in our hiring process.

Jay understands the culture of our company and the expectations we have for our employees so he can find the best fit for each of our sites. He and his team do an excellent job of thinking outside of the box to find candidates with a high level of experience. The team is also great about sharing feedback the candidates have so that we can improve our interview/onboarding process.
